"PILAU" hostel is a winner of All-Russian mini-hotel contest "Zolotoy Cluchik" ("Golden Key") – 2009” in the cathegory "Best Russian hotel of budget-class (hostel)".
The awards ceremony was held in St. Petersburg, the Smolny Cathedral.
Public vocational award in the small hotel business "Golden Key" is an independent public award. It is awarded for the contribution of mini-hotels in the tourism in general, their participation in the development of tourist relations and events in Russia, as well as for outstanding professional achievements and significant projects in the market of small means of accommodation
Mini-hotel “PILAU” on Rubinshteyna Street placed in the historical centre of Saint Petersburg 5 minutes walk from Nevsky Prospect, the main avenue of Saint Petersburg, and 2 minutes walk from the Dostoevskay / Vladimirskaya metro station. You can get to us from Moscow Train Station by metro (just one stop) or 15 minutes walk. You can also take one metro stop from Vitebskiy Train Station or 10 minutes walk.
Important cultural and historical places of interest such as Kazan Cathedral, the State Hermitage Museum, Dvortzovaya Square ( where main city celebrations take place), Church of the Saviour on the Spilled Blood, the Summer Garden, Mikhailovsky (An Engineer) Castle, the State Russian Museum, the Admiralty, St. Isaac’s Cathedral and others are all within walking distance.
“PILAU” is surrounded by a great number of cafes, pubs, night clubs, theatres and restaurants of every taste and range of prices. There is 24-hours inexpensive supermarket not far from the Hostel.
We offer comfortable accommodation in 2-, 4-, 6- or 8-bedded rooms. A toilet and shower are in a room or conveniently located on each floor. Three of our NEW 4-bedded rooms with TV have lower beds with 140x200 mattress (rooms can be booked for 5 or 6 persons) . We also have one room with a double bed.
In February – March 2008 all “PILAU” premises have been fully refurbished. All rooms have been equipped with new double-glazed windows and anti-mosquitoes netting.
In spite of the fact that some rooms have their toilets outside, on each floor, nobody experience discomfort about that, because we have 7 showers, 8 toilets and 12 washbasins, all brand new, for just 52 people staying with us.
Everyone in a room gets their own personal reading light, so you can read without disturbing or being disturbed by other residents.
“PILAU” Hostel is designed for both Russian and foreign tourists, travelling individually or in groups. Registration is available for all our visitors in officially prescribed manner.

How to get there GETTING FROM THE AIRPORT By public transport take bus or mini-bus (“marshrytka”), or take a taxi, to Moscovskaya metro station. Then take the METRO train to the Vladimirskaya / Dostoevskaya metro station and then WALK TO THE HOSTEL .
